Microstructure Stabilities of Newly Developed Hot‐Working Die Steel and H13 Steel at Elevated Temperature

چکیده

Herein, the microstructure stability of a newly developed hot‐working die (HWD700) steel at elevated temperatures up to 700 °C is investigated using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), selected‐area diffraction, energy‐dispersive spectrometer, and high‐resolution microscope. The results show that HWD700 exhibits higher thermal than commercial H13 when temperature °C. After quenching tempering, high densities intra‐lath rodlike inter‐lath spherical MC nano‐carbides strip‐like M 7 C 3 are observed in steel. These carbides remain nanoscale For comparison, rod‐shaped tempered tend coarsen transform into larger 23 6 650 TEM observation further reveals interface misfit between nano‐carbide matrix as low 0.88%, lower 14.8% This can be main reason for improved by pinning dislocations grain boundaries thereby hindering recrystallization process an temperature.

Superplasticity of Annealed H13 Steel

H13 steel is a widely used hot work die material. A new type of hot working method is imperative to develop complex and precise dies. In this paper, the heat treatment of H13 steel (AISI) was carried out by annealing, the final structure is a point or spherical pearlite, and the grain size is about 30-40 μm. The tensile properties of the annealed microstructure were investigated at 650, 750, an...

Nanosized precipitates in H13 tool steel low temperature plasma nitriding

A comprehensive study of pulsed nitriding in AISI H13 tool steel at low temperature (400°C) is reported for several durations. X-ray diffraction results reveal that a nitrogen enriched compound (-Fe2-3N, iron nitride) builds up on the surface within the first process hour despite the low process temperature. Beneath the surface, X-ray Wavelength Dispersive Spectroscopy (WDS) in a Scanning Elec...

Effects of Rare Earth on the Microstructure and Impact Toughness of H13 Steel

Studies of H13 steel suggest that under appropriate conditions, additions of rare-earth metals (REM) can significantly enhance mechanical properties, such as impact toughness. This improvement is apparently due to the formation of finer and more dispersive RE inclusions and grain refinement after REM additions. In this present work, the microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of H13 ...

Effect of Heat Treatment on Mechanical Properties of H13 Steel

This paper reports results of in-house experimentation on heat treatment and mechanical testing of H13 tool steel. Heat treatment strategy practiced by the industry is described in detail. Effect of various types of heat treatment on fracture toughness, hardness and other mechanical properties is also analyzed. It was found that toughness (expressed in terms of plane-strain fracture toughness K...
